Getting around on foot is the best way to visit the Town Center. Bran is compact and very walkable. Most key spots, Bran Castle, markets, and restaurants are withing a 10 – 15 minute walk from each other.

By Taxi

Taxis are available, but not always driving around town to be hailed. It’s best to call beforehand or ask your hotel to call a taxi for you.

By Bus

Regular buses and minibuses (called maxi-taxi) run between Bran and Brasov – the main nearby city (18 miles away). Pickup points are near the castle or town center.

By Car

You do not need a car to get around within Bran, but if you want to explore more of the Transylvanian countryside, Piatra Craiului National Park, or nearby towns like Rosnov or Moieciu, renting a car is ideal. The roads are in good condition but narrow in some spots, you may pass the occasional horse cart or shepherd with sheep.

Where is Bran located?

How do I get to Bran?

Most visitors coming to Bran have to first arrive at Brasov or need to make a day trip from Bucharest. Bran Castle is about 18 miles away from Brasov and is located at the entrance of the Rucar – Bran passage. It is surrounded by the Bucegi and the Piatra Craiului Mountains and is about 100 miles from Bucharest. It is easily accessible via public transport or by car.

By Bus: The Bus Terminal No. 2 at Brasov has regular buses to and from Bran – Moeciu every 30 minutes during the weekdays and every 1 hour during the weekends. You can buy the tickets directly from the driver. The duration is 45 minutes. The bus prices are inexpensive.

By Train: The Bucharest North Railway Station has a train to Brasov every hour. You can take either the Intercity (CFR) line or the Regional line. The duration is 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Taxi: Bran is about 18 miles away from Brasov. There a quite a few taxi services available in brasov, the drive is about 30 minutes.

If I have a car, where can I park to visit Bran Castle?

If you drive to Bran Castle, there are paid parking facilities available at the Castle. However, if you want to save a few bucks and don’t mind a scenic walk, then you can park for free at the Bran village nearby. The free car parking service is available on a first-come-first-served basis, so it’s possible that you may not find a free parking spot easily, or you may have to walk a longer distance.
