Flamingo Town Center

Playa Flamingo lacks a traditional downtown square, but a commercial area has grown up around its main access road. This area has a selection of restaurants, hotels, and small shops, including a well-stocked supermarket. The town is highly walkable and is the hub for a range of activities. The main feature is the stunning white sand beach, known for its calm waters, making it ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking. This is also where you’ll find the new Marina Flamingo, which offers boat tours, deep-sea fishing charters, and sailing excursions.

The North and South Ridges

The hills that flank the beach, known as the North and South Ridges, are a hallmark of Flamingo’s luxury. These elevated communities are famous for their spectacular, panoramic ocean views. The area is predominantly residential, home to multi-million dollar vacation rentals and private estates. This is a very quiet and exclusive part of Flamingo, offering a tranquil escape from the busier beachfront. While you’ll need a car to get around, the breathtaking views and private atmosphere are well worth it.

Potrero and Surfside

A short drive north of Flamingo, this area offers a more authentic, local feel. Potrero is a charming Costa Rican community with a downtown area centered around a soccer field. Nearby Surfside, developed by expats, offers a more lively atmosphere with a main street lined with bars, restaurants, and shops. The beaches in this area, like Playa Potrero and Playa Penca, offer a different vibe from Flamingo, with calmer waters and a mix of locals and tourists. It’s a great place for those who want to be close to Flamingo but prefer a more laid-back experience.
