Getting around Playa Bonita
By Walking
If you’re staying at one of the resorts in Playa Bonita, most all the amenities are self-contained and within walking distance, such as the beach, pools, restaurants, spa & fitness centers.
By Taxi
Taxis are readily available and often parked at the resort entrance. Expect to pay around $10 – $20 for a taxi to Panama City, which is a 25 – 35 minute drive, depending on traffic. To get to the Canal or Casco Viejo via taxi is around $15 – $25. We suggest always negotiating the fare and confirming with your driver before getting in, as taxis do not have meters.
By Uber
Uber does operate in Playa Bonita, and it’s a great option for reliable pricing and convenience. In more cases, it is cheaper than taxis.
By Hotel & Resort Shuttles
Many of the resorts offer free or paid shuttles to nearby attractions such as Casco Viejo, Albrook Mall, Canal Museum, etc. Tours will typically pick up from the hotel lobby.
By Car
You can rent a car, but it is not usually necessary unless you plan to explore further outside the area. Also, be aware that Panama City traffic can be hectic, and signage is often in Spanish. Parking can also be limited in historic areas.
