Positano – Recommended Neighborhoods

City Center
The iconic, bustling heart of Positano, situated at the bottom of the cliff leading down to the sea. It is a labyrinth of narrow, steep, pedestrian-only lanes lined with high-end boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. This area is the most crowded, lively, and glamorous part of the town.
Spiaggia Grande (the main, iconic beach), the magnificent majolica-tiled dome of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, MAR Positano Roman Archaeological Museum (excavated Roman villa ruins), and local artisan shops featuring “Moda Positano” linen fashion and colorful ceramics.

Outskirts
The quieter, higher-up residential areas and hamlets, such as Montepertuso and Nocelle. These areas offer a more authentic, peaceful escape from the crowds, with spectacular panoramic views that sweep across the coast and extend to the island of Capri. They are connected to the main town by staircases and local bus service.
Unmatched Panoramic Coastal Views, the starting/ending point of the famous Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) hiking trail, smaller, less-crowded local restaurants, and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (in Montepertuso).
