What is the best way to get around the Maldives?
Getting around the Maldives Islands is best done by a charter plane or by ferry or boat. All of the resorts in the Maldives are located on private islands with your accommodations providing transfers to your facilities and once there you do not need to go anywhere. Resorts offer on-site restaurants, bars, spas, and other amenities, so walking around once you are there will be your primary way of exploring. Island hopping and visiting other islands is best done via a boat ride, day trip, or other excursions. Resorts collect guests from the Male or regional airstrips via speed boat, most of the islands are completely car-free and there is a cheap public ferry system available and private speedboat transfers for independent travelers.
