It is possible to walk around the downtown Nassau area connecting to different shops and attractions. Distances from the beaches and areas of interest are within walking distance.

Public buses in the Bahamas are called jitneys, these are the most common form of public transportation. Buses travel around Nassau city and New Providence Island, along the main stretch of Bay Street. The #10 Jitney travels to Cable Beach, picking up passengers at George and Bay Streets, across from the British Colonial Hilton, others can be found on Charlotte and Bay Streets. The main airport servicing the city of Nassau is Lynden Pindling International Airport, the largest airport in the Bahamas, located in western New Providence Island near Nassau.
If you have not booked a private transfer with us there are a few options to reach your hotel from the airport including taxis, buses (jitneys), and rental cars.
What types of transportation can I find at the airport?
There are plenty of taxis available at the airport, located outside the terminals with a ride to downtown Nassau costing approximately $27 and $34 to Paradise Island. The taxi drivers don’t use meters, so be sure to ask for a quote to your destination before you depart. Official taxis in the Bahamas have a yellow license plate.
