If you have not booked a private transfer with us, you have a few options. To travel from Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport (SAP) in San Pedro Sula to your hotel you can take a bus, taxi or private transfer.
Taxis are readily available at the airport. Ensure to agree on a fare before starting your journey.
Private Transfer offers convenience and comfort. Services can be arranged in advance.
The approximate travel time I 1 hour and 10 minutes to cover 53 miles.
By Bus: Diana Express operates buses from San Pedro Sula to ela every 3 hours, with a journey time of about 2 hours. Transportes Crisinta is another service that services San Pedro Sula every 4 hours, taking around 2.5 hours to reach Tela. And Hedman Alas is known for comfortable and safe travel; tickets can be purchased at the airport office.
How do I get around Tela Beach?
Getting around is straightforward with taxis, tuk-tuks (Mototaxis), buses, and bicycles available depending on your preference. Taxis are common throughout town and are convenient for quick trips. They don’t use meters, so it’s important to agree on a fare before starting the ride. For shorter distances, you can use tuk-tuks, also known as mototaxis, which are three-wheeled vehicles that are affordable and ideal for getting to the beach, markets, or cafes.
For travel between Tela and other nearby cities such as La Ceiba or San Pedro Sula, local buses and collectives (shared minivans) are widely used.
Car rentals are available as well, great for visiting the surrounding areas or national parks.

When is the best time to visit Tela?
The dry sea season, December to April, is warm and less humid. This is the best time for beach days and outdoor activities.
