Kenting – Where to Stay

1st: Kenting Main Street (Kenting Dajie)
This is the tourist epicenter. If you stay here, you are in the middle of the noise, the night market, and the beach access. The hotels range from luxury resorts (like the Caesar Park) to backpacker inns above shops. It is convenient, loud, and energetic—perfect if you want to stumble home after a night of drinking and eating without needing a scooter.

2nd: Hengchun Old Town
Stay here for authenticity and better value. Located about 15 minutes inland from the beach, Hengchun feels like a real town with history. The accommodation is mostly hip B&Bs in renovated old houses. You are surrounded by cool cafes, historic gates, and local noodle shops that don’t charge tourist prices. It’s the hipster choice.

3rd: Nanwan (South Bay)
This is the surfer’s hub. Located between Hengchun and Kenting Street, Nanwan is defined by its long sandy beach and heavy concentration of surf shops and water sport operators. The vibe here is young and active. The B&Bs overlook the ocean, and the day starts early with the waves. It can be busy with day-trippers, but the ocean view is unbeatable.

4th: Sail Rock (Chuanfan Shi)
Just south of the main strip, Sail Rock offers a compromise between convenience and quiet. Named after the giant coral rock that looks like a ship’s sail, this area is lined with villa-style guesthouses that often feature balconies with sea views. It is quieter than the main street but only a 3-minute scooter ride away, making it popular for couples and those seeking a scenic morning coffee.
